Line-II-program
Why did we iniciate the line-II-program?
The gaining importance of the pedigree-breeding values and the strong focus on the milk value have negative impacts on the whole breeding work with Fleckvieh and last but not least on the profitability of dairy cows.

Although the farmers get breeding cattle with high breeding values they feel more and more that the service life and the fitness traits get worse.
Bavarian Fleckvieh Genetics recognized these problems and developed the so called line-II- program. Now we test 20 specially selected young sires in addition to the regular young sires each year.
In this program a high value is set on profitability and the demands on the bull mothers and sires are very high. Cows that do not correspond to the "Fleckvieh-standard" are not considered.

Bavarian Fleckvieh Genetics intends to set a new trend in Fleckvieh-breeding towards a higher profitability and to escape the "bloodline-trap".
Standards for the bull mothers and sires of the line-II-program
The pedigree has to be 5 generations of pure Fleckvieh, RH-blood is not permissible. The animals should come from deep cow families with a long service life and productivity.
